Banana Reef
Banana Reef, a part of North Malé Atoll, remains extremely popular among diving enthusiasts. It is about 15 minutes away from the artificial island of Hulhumalé. This is counted among the top five dive sites in Maldives which charm travellers from all over the world. Diving here can be performed at a depth of 5 to 30 meters. Its name is inspired from the underwater curve on the western edge. It runs around 300 meters from North-East to South. A visit to Banana Reef promises you views of unique marine biodiversity and vibrant coral life. Banana Reef is also a great place to indulge in snorkelling and drift diving. The reef brims with fish, turtles, shrimps and crabs.
When to go
The best time to visit Banana Reef to take the pleasure of diving is from December to May. Visibility under water is more than 30m/98ft during these months. Months from June to November are considered as low season for diving here. Banana Reef is known for spotting Manta rays and sharks.
