Grand Friday Mosque

Grand Friday mosque, also known as Masjid-al-Sultan Mohammed Thakurufaanu-al-A "z" zam, is the largest mosque of Maldives. It looks larger than life and flaunts unmatched architecture from the history.

This impressive architecture was constructed by the Sultan Ibrahim Iskandhar in the year 1656.This mosque was opened in November 1984 by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Since then it became a popular religious centre here. The mosque houses the renowned Islamic centre that holds great importance among the locals here. This mosque is so big that it can house up to 5000 people at a time.
