Serene and spiritual, Varanasi remains the holiest city in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Fondly named as the City of Lights, Varanasi is extremely popular among Hindu devotees who visit here to achieve moksha. River Ganga flows through all parts of the city and makes it even more sacred. History of Varanasi goes back to more than 3000 years ago. Sit here at one of the serene ghats and relish the views of gleaming Ganga River.

Varanasi is home to more than its fair share of temples. New Vishwanath Temple is a known shrine here located within the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The temple was raised by the very renowned Birla family. It has 7 temples, including Shiva temple, Durga temple, Lakshmi Narayan temple, etc. Kathwala Temple is another significant temple of the city known for its exquisite architecture. The temple stands on the Lalita Ghat. Kashi Vishwanath/Golden Temple here has a history going back to 3500 years. For some moments of serenity, travellers can also visit the Tulsi Manas Temple dedicated to Lord Rama. The temple is made in white-marble and has walls inscribed with the text from Ramcharitramanas written by Tulsi Das.

Varanasi’s ghats are perfect havens to Nirvana. Assi Ghat is the most popular one where pilgrims can be seen indulging in various rituals. Pilgrims visit here to pay homage to Lord Shiva. Dashashwamedh Ghat is another most visited ghat of the city where it is believed that Lord Brahma sacrificed 10 horses in a yajna. Grand Ganga aartis are organised at this ghat.
